Pantec Engineering AG - EmControl - „After conversion the quality issues were solved all at once“

„The production quality of our Saurer S1040 Pentamat was not satisfying any more“. That is how Max Altherr, owner and manager of Altherr embroidery describes his main problem, which he had to deal two years ago. A lot of trials to improve the accuracy of stitches failed and he had to approach the problem differently.

The Altherr embroidery is a tradition company in the St. Galler Rhine Valley / Switzerland. The company acts since 50 years in Grabs, and specialises itself on fabrication of high-grade, selected underwear and soft furnishings. They produce on 8 Saurer embroidery machines - from 2S55 to Epoca - target markets are Europe and Asia. With the input on laser-cutting technology, they develop their position as a top-leading-company.

In 2005 Max Altherr had a lot of quality problems with his Saurer S1040 pentamat machine. „The accuracy of frame movement was extremely bad. If we had a charge on the 1040 and on other machines, the result was completely different refering to the appearance. The embroidery of S1040 was spongy and improperly. This problem widened that the customers who ordered, didn‘t want to have their order embroidered with the S1040.

Altherr tried to solve the problem with a lot of machine specialists, but without success. That‘s why he - beside the advantage of cardless machine operation - promised himself to improve the situation with retrofitting his machine to EmControl, which was done in august 2005. The result of retrofitting had beaten his expectations.

„The quality problems while embroidering have been removed instantly“. His core problem was solved, in addition he was surprised from the other benefits. „Without further mechanical replacements at the machine, the production speed increased from 160 to 190 rotations per minute, furthermore less yarn breaks and the simple usability confirm the efficiency of the investment“.

His conclusion: „Without retrofitting on EmControl - the machine would have been sold“. Today, the Saurer S1040 with EmControl is a reliable and high-power resource for the Altherr embroidery. „If I would be in the same situation, I would also say „yes “ to EmControl“.
